[Facts] Pronunciation of Aloysius
Is the pronunciation ah-loy-see-us legit [loy rhyming with toy]? According to the database it's pronounced like al-ə-WISH-əs in English and ah-lo-EE-see-us in Dutch but it's also used in other countries and I'm pretty sure I've heard it pronounced like ah-loy-see-us. Where would this pronunciation be used if it's a legit pronunciation?
TIA!

ah-loy-see-us is a legitimate pronunciation in Slavic languages, where the name is more likely to be spelled Alojzius or Alojzijus. Short form is Alojz.

I know this name was used in the Czech lands long time ago with this spelling - a writer named Aloysius or someone like that - and I'd pronounce it with the Z instead of the S, even when the S is written.
Agree on all points
