Message: "Shem" - Behind the Name

Hi all
Would love some opinions on the name Shem please.
Do you think it should be Shemuel, or is just Shem OK?
I think it goes well with sibling names Eli, Amos, Pearl adn Iris, what do you think?
Other ideas are Mortimer, Mordecai, Cedric, Cosmo and Obadiah.
Really struggling with boys, so input would be most useful - trying to build 3 names for each gender ( +mn), we are trying to concieve at the moment, but i have always loved thinking about the names in lots of detail until i find the perfect few!
I am in the UK, if that is at all relevant!

I would use Shemuel with the nn Shem. It goes with Eli and Amos, but it's too Biblical sounding to go with Pearl and Iris IMO. I think Mordecai and Cedric go with all 4 names.

I've always wondered why Shem isn't more popular.

I think it goes very well with the sibling names and is the best of the boys names that you listed :)
