It is just a surname to me and I don't find the sound of it to be particularly appealing anyway.

First off, I love modern, uncommon/unused names.

Addison isn't one of those.

I dislike it. But it's also my nephew's name, and I love him. I just think the name is horrid. On his case, it is named as his father's name is Adam, and Addison means "Son of Adam". It's tolerable in this condition, but otherwise, just ick.

Yes yes, Addison was a surname first. And by all means, use it if you have an Addison in the family tree to honour. But be forewarned about the disease connection. I would have been mortified to learn there was an illness with my name as a child.

I like it on a boy. On a girl, it's trendy and awful.

It also makes me think of the disease, which is why I couldn't use it for either.
