[Opinions] Beatrice or Beatrix?
Replies
I like Beatrice
Both are nice, but I like Beatrix a bit more. I like the Latinate ending, and X's are pretty darn awesome in general.
I love both, but I like Beatrix slightly more.
Beatrix!
I think the x ending makes it edgier and more interesting than Beatrice, though I also like Beatrice. I like the etymology/meaning of Beatrix/Beatrice, also. It's a sort of fusion of Viatrix "traveler" and Beata "blessed." I like Bea as an occasional nickname for either.
On the down side, the x invites the nickname Trixie, which I hate. I have a good association with the name (a kind, energetic German-American woman who was a mentor and Sunday school teacher for me).
The combo Margaret Beatrix is #1 on DH's and my list for daughters. Beatrix may be exchanged for something else by the time we'd have a daughter, but for now we both love it. Some combos I like with Beatrix in the first name slot:
Beatrix Margaret
Beatrix Hannah
Beatrix Mary
Beatrix Lucy
Beatrix Kathryn
Beatrix Anne (one of the few combos in which I like Anne as a middle name)
Beatrix Olive
Beatrix Audrey
Beatrix Helen

I like both a lot, Beatrix being my favorite at the moment. I think Bibi's a pretty cute nickname or just B. I don't care much for Trix or Trixie.
I like Beatrice pronounced the Italian way, as Beh-uh-tri-che. But pronounced the usual way's fine too, as it's a character I liked in Shakespeare.
A tip for middle names . . . try finding a name in the same language that you like. Usually, a name in the same language, say Late Roman, will flow well. But rules are always there to be broken. A few combos:
Beatrix Amandus
Beatrix Claritia
Beatrix Dominica
Beatrix Fidelis
That's all I can think of? Sorry, too hot to think right now.

I'd have to go with the noble, and as New_Chloe said, old fashioned and gentle Beatrice. I've always liked the name.
Whereas Beatrix reminds me, if not of Beatrix Potter, then of dog treats. Sometimes Bellatrix comes to mind too.
Either way, I like Beatrice. Pronounced the English way, however, I've also found a certain charm to the Italian pronounciation of the name!

I love both, but easily prefer Beatrix, which is my second favorite girl name.
(I only like them pronounced "bee-uh-triks" and "bee-uh-tris", though.)

Beatrice is more timeless so I should prefer it over Beatrix. Beatrix is classic as well, but it's more associated in my mind with a particular time period, that belonging to Beatrix Potter. I admit that my heart belongs to hopelessly adorable Beatrix. The nn Bix is so cute.
Beatrix Jemima (Ms Potter + Ms Puddleduck)
Beatrix Lily
Beatrix Jane
Beatrix Helen
Beatrix Mary
Beatrix Isadora (Ms Potter dancing in little more than a veil?)
Beatrix Verity
Beatrix Nora
Beatrix Ivy
Beatrix Marjorie
Beatrix Laurel
Beatrix Johanna
Beatrix Dagmar
Beatrix Maia / Maya
Beatrix Cora
I suppose these could go for Beatrice as well. Well, happy hunting. I'd love to hear what you think of these or any other suggestions. Thanks!

I dislike both. However I like the Welsh form, Betrys.
