What do you think of Tirzah for a girl? How do you pronounce it? TEER-zah, TUR-zah or TIR-zah?

I adore it. Very spunky, and it has a great meaning. I say it Tir-zah. Love it :)

A lady whose blog I read sometimes has a baby called Tirzah Joy (born in April) I can't remember all the older siblings, but I think shes one of 7 or 8 and they all have biblical names. The other girl is Eden, and some of the boys are Micah, Joshua, Zeke and Malachi.

I am torn..

between TEER-zuh and TUR-zuh

I am starting to like it a lot more. It fits well with my other favourite girls names.

I love Tirzah. I say it "TEER-zah" based on how they pronounce it in Ben-Hur. It's Judah Ben-Hur's sister's name. I don't know anyone with this name, but I'd love to use it myself. We'll see. There's a queue :)

I really like it. I guess I pronounce it something between TEER-zah and TUR-zah. I don't know anyone with the name, but one of my great-great-great grandmothers was named Thirza (spelled like that).

Oh how i adored this name as a teenager!

I was WILD about Tirzah. I always pronounced it "TEER-zah". I loved the Z in there. I don't know anyone with the name, which is too bad.

I'm not sure how "traditional" of a name it is considered among Jews. I have heard that any name in the Bible (or Old Testament I suppose, rather) is considered to be rather conservative and more popular with Orthodox Jews in Israel. Nevertheless, I found it exotic, graceful and gorgeous, and wished I was Jewish so I could use it! :)

Just by looking at it, I say Teer-zah. It's nms, though and I don't know anyone with the name.

I don't know any Tirzahs, but I know a Kirsa.
I prefer Kirsa, as Tirzah, no matter which pronounciation, reminds me too much of tears.

What is Kirsa pronounced like? Just looking at it I pronounced it kind of like 'curse', but that wouldn't be a very good word to have in your name...

It is pronounced rhyming with Tirzah - KIR-zah.

It's good. Too biblical for me at least to use in real life, but I like it. TUR-zah/TIR-zah i show I pronounce it. I don't know anyont with this name. Tirzah looks more biblical than Tirza, but I don't think one is better or more complete.

I know one person with this name (Tirzah), but not personally.

Personally, I don't really like it. Though, I think it's pronounce TIR-zah or TEER-zah.
