[Opinions] Ash
What do you think of just plain Ash for a boy? Do you think it works? Or should it only be used as a nickname for Ashok, Asher or Ashton?
Oh and wdyto:
Ashton nn Ash
Asher nn Ash
Ashok nn Ash
Ash
which one is your favorite? Do you know anyone with any of these names? Is Asher too common? Ashton too trendy? Ashok too difficult to pronounce? I really like Ashok's meaning.

Ash is a bit pokemon-y but I like it. It could probably stand on its own but I prefer it as a nn. I love Asher! And Ashton's great too. I only know one Asher so I'd say it's not too common. Ashton is trendy but there are much worse out there (I also only know one Ashton, a girl). Ashok is a little hard to pronounce but ppl would get used to it, I don't know any Ashoks nor do I know anyone with the name Ash.
I don't really like Ash as a given name; it reminds me of Pokemon. I guess there's nothing wrong with it and it could be a nice nature name, but I just have that association.
However, Ross loves it as a nickname -- Asher is our #2 boys' name because Ross really likes the nickname Ash (because of its association with fire). So obviously Asher is my favorite of the three you listed -- but I also like the meaning ("happy").
