[Opinions] Re: October BAs
in reply to a message by Bear
I assume Vasoula Sophia is a form of Vasilia/ Vasilis?
Since it's Greek tradition to name the first granddaughter after the paternal grandmother and the second after the maternal grandmother (same for boys-grandfathers), and they did it with Athena.

Thank you. I would never have thought of / noticed that. :-)By the way, isn't Vasilia a name? It isn't in the database, but it's hard to believe it's not a valid feminine form of Vasily.

I don't know anyone with this name, but since her Greek grandmother (all their last names are very Greek) has it I'd guess that's it's a valid name. I have heard of Vsilija, Vasilya, Vasilka.
Just because it's not in the database doesn't mean anything, Mike can hardly add every name in the world. There are many Croatian names that aren't in the database either.
