I've only heard it on a real life person once. My great great aunt Daphne Phyllis.
she called herself Phyl.

It was the name of one of my great uncle John's cockerspaniels. He breeds them and they had people names, however I can't ever imagine Daphne as a persons name. It always seems more like a dogs name to me anyway.

Its hard to explain what I don't like about it. Its not awful, its just not my style.

I think its kind of ugly and it makes me think of Scooby-Doo

Pretty name for a cute little girl. It works so well with a little girl and a easy going, smiling woman.

I used to hate it but it grew on me and now I really like it. It's pretty.

I like the fact that it is an ancient Greek name that isn't outlandish, but it reminds me too much of the word "daffy." I'm on the seesaw with this one.

I knew a Daphne in elementary school. She was an odd little duck, but very sweet - you couldn't help but like her! I had never met anyone with the name before, so I consider it a rare, gently eccentric name, of a persona who strives to be different while still being kind.

I think it's gorgeous, and a serious contender for a sister to Rosemary.

It sounds too close to "daffy" and it is mighty unattractive and I'm glad it's not my name.
