[Opinions] Are Alysia and Alicia pronounced the same?
or slightly different? I love the 'a-LISS-ee-a' prn. I don't think many people would prn Alicia that way. Could it work with Alysia?Which of these do you like the best?Alysia
Alicia
Alyssa
ElissaDoes Alysia Vivien work?Thanks. :)

I had a friend called Alysia, pronounced "ah-LISS-ee-uh". Alysia is just a modern variant of Alicia. Alicia is more accurately pronounced "ah-LEE-see-ah".Out of your list, I prefer Elissa.

I've met an Alysia, she pronounces it 'a-LISS-ee-a'. The only Alicia's I've known all go with 'a-LEE-sha', and the Alyssa/Elissas all go with 'a-LISS-a'
Alysia Vivien is quite nice too. :)

editedAlicia - ah-LEE-see-ahAlysia - ah-LISS-ee-ahI prefer Alicia which I like a lot.Alyssa is boring and not as pretty as Alicia.Elissa looks trendy even though it's not.Yeah Alysia Vivien works but I prefer Alicia Vivienne.edited:I think Alysia looks misspelled while Alicia looks beautiful. I'd definitely go with Alicia. I think they'll both get mispronounced as ah-LEE-sha or ah-LISH-ah a lot.If you want the ah-LISS-ee-ah pronunciation I'd spell it Alyssia. I think it looks rather pretty and will mostly be pronounced the way you want it to.

I think in the US the vast majority of people would pronounce Alicia as a-LEESH-a. I went to school with several Alicias and all but one pronounced them that way. One pronounced it a-LEE-see-a. I've never heard it pronounced a-LISS-ee-a before. I think that pronunciation makes a lot more sense with the spelling Alysia.Out of all those names, I think I'd pick Alysia, although I don't like it. I really dislike Alicia and any "elissa" sort of sounds... so that counts out Alyssa too.Alysia Vivien is a nice combo.

I think a-LISS-ee-a when I see Alicia (and Alysia, though Alyssa is more familiar); I think this was how Dame Alicia Markova's name was pronounced (a-LISH-a sounds American). I pronounce Elissa to rhyme with Melissa (although I believe it's supposed to be pronounced EE-liss-a, which I much prefer, but I just run with the flow).
I love Elissa (pronounced with the rarely-heard long E)because it's a name (and an ancient, if historically little-used, one) in its own right, not a form of Alice or Elizabeth, as most people assume.
I'd be tempted to use it but for the fact that most people would assume it's just another trendy spelling.
Vivien goes well with all versions.
Alyssa is very sweet but I prefer the more classic Alicia.

Never having seen Alysia before, I'd pronounce it the same way you do. I think it's nicer than the other names - I don't like Alyssa or Elissa much, and Alicia just seems to have too many variant pronunciations. (The only one I've ever met was Spanish and used the Spanish pr.)
Alysia Vivien sounds fine to me.
