WDYT of Joakim, pronounced WA keem?
For a girl, Serafima is my no.1 pick. Boys are much harder, and Joakim is the only name i really like.
Do you think Serafima & Joakim make a good sib-set (i'm thinking ahead!)?

If I was a boy my parents would name me Joakim
It's a pretty popular name here in Sweden. I used to hate it, but now I think it's actually kind of nice. I like it! Joakim is not pronounced WA-keem, that is just horrible wrong and it sounds awful. Joakim is pronounced YO-ah-kim. My cousin have a son named Nino Joaquin and they prn Joaquin like choa-KEEN (or is it cha-KEEN?)

Are you sure you're not thinking of Joaquin? Joaquin is pronounced "wa-KEEN" or "WA-keen", while Joakim would probably be approximately "YOH-uh-kim".
I really like Joaquin, and I think it goes well with Serafima.
I personally prefer Seraphina or Serafina. Serafima reminds me too much of FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency that really dropped the ball after Hurricane Katrina.

actually, i never thought about Joaquin! Since both Joakim & Joaquin stem from the name Joachim, they are almost the same, since i've heard different ponunciations for all three. Eg. some people pronounce Joachim zho a she/ joh ak kim etc.
Can Joakim not be pronounced WA keem? Because to me, it makes the most sense. I do like Joaquin, thanks for the suggestion!
Never heard of FEMA (i'm from Australia), so it won't be a problem! I'm part Russian, that's why i'm spelling it with an "f" (which i prefer anyway) instead of "ph", and with an 'm' instead of 'n' (but i do like Serafina as well!)

I honestly wouldn't know whether Joakim can be pronounced WA-keem. It could very well be so. I'm just guessing from the fact that it's Scandinavian that it probably wouldn't be a standard pronunciation of it, though. Of course, you can pronounce your child's name however you'd like.

I'm from Sweden and Joakim is pronounced Yoo-ah-kim here. WA-keem is not a pronunciation that is used, it is in fact a very strange pronunciation (here) and most people wouldn't get that the pronunciation Wa-keem was the name Joakim.
You're not living in any Scandinavian country so obviously you can choose to pronounce it Wa-keem, but it is not the "correct" Scandinavian pronunciation.
