[Opinions] Drusilla
I ran across Drusilla today and it sort of hit me differently than usual. I think it could be cute, especially with the nickname Dru. What do you think of it?

I really like Drusilla "Dru". It's GP for me, though, I think Drusilla would be a tough name to carry.

Drusilla reminds me of a) Caligula's sister, and b) the insane vampire in Buffy. However, I actually went to school with one, who spelt it Druscilla. She was not at all evil or mad, but very clever, captain of various societies, and possibly even Head Girl, but I can't remember that far back. :)
I like it, and Dru is nice, but the first two Drusillas would definitely put me off using it.

Sounds like a Disney villain.

It was, sort of. It was the name of one of the stepsisters in Disney's "Cinderella." The other one's name was Anastasia. Funny how they both were obviously considered unattractive names back in 1950.

actually, the name of the other stepsister in cinderella is drizella, not drusilla. similar, but not quite the same.

Well, dang. I think it should have been Drusilla, because Drusilla is a real name.

I think it's cool. It's a rare find. I'd personally love to meet one.
And yes, I think Drew would be a great nickname. That way, if she's given trouble, she can always revert to that, and people will make the association with Drew Barrymore and think it's cool.

LizardThere's this fat lizard at the museum my sister works at named Drusilla and that's pretty much all I can think of when I hear the name. Something about the -silla makes me think reptile though because same goes for Priscilla though I like it much more than Drusilla.

That's an awesome name for a lizard! The lizard association makes me like it even more somehow... ups the exotic vibe!

Yes!Drusilla, nn Dru, is strong, confident, artsy and fun. Love it. Ancient Roman imagery is the cherry on top.

I like it. It is dark and elegant and I love the nickname Dru. I must be in a dark and angsty name mood lately, because I can't get enough of these names. Wednesday, Drusilla, Lydia. Yeah.
