I really love this name! It's not very popular these days, which is a plus to me. It also sounds both sophisticated and youthful, great for a little girl and a grown woman.

I like how its mythological. It has history behind it,and it definitely is girly. But honestly, i don't associate it with scooby doo.

I always think of the plant too. It's a very green naturey name. I think of a lovely daphne plant in our garden back in Australia. I also think of laurels growing wild in Greece (I assume they do!).
But I think of Daffy Duck and fear teasing.

I like it a lot. My main association with it is the plant, which blooms in the coldest part of the winter, has sweet little pink flowers and smells gorgeous - a nice namesake.

It doesn't make me think of Scooby Doo. I first started to like it when I watched Frasier.

I think it's very upbeat and fresh, and a little silly. It seems like the kind of name that would be getting more popular. It kind of has that Chloe-Phoebe vibe, but it's a little less ditzy. I also can't really get over the Scooby Doo association, but I like Scooby Doo, so no matter. :)

I think Daphne is really sweet, too, and I like it a lot as a first name.

I don't associate it with Scooby Doo at all (I don't really associate it with anything), but I don't think that would be a huge problem.

I know a Daphne, so I think of her and not Scooby Doo. I think it's an easily overcome association. I was pleased to know a real life Daphne. It's pretty and feminine, soft but not mushy. Though it isn't something I'd use, the thought of little Daphne makes me smile.

It's a name for a beautiful sweet ballerina girl. Exquisite. It's at the top of our list for a future daughter.

It isn't associated with Scooby Doo to me at all. I didn't even think of that until reading your question.

I disliked Daphne intensely for many years. It reminded me of dandruff and it seemed so slow and almost ridiculous. Now I picture someone shy, sweet and intellectual.

I love Daphne, and especially as a first name. Sweet and shy isn't really what comes to mind when I think of Daphne; I find it more of an outgoing name. It's bright and spunky and smart. I think "fresh" is a really good way to describe Daphne, too. It reminds me of spring.

I hardly even think of Scooby-Doo anymore when I hear Daphne (in fact, it took your mentioning Scooby-Doo to remind me of the association). For me, the connection is more "oh hey there was a character named that in Scooby-Doo, wasn't there?" than "oh you mean like the Scooby-Doo character, Daphne was in Scooby-Doo!" The connection is incidental rather than defining.

I like Daphne...I really just like Greek names in general.
And yes, I associate it with Scooby Doo (not a bad thing...that was my favorite show as a young child!). But now that I'm older I tend to not have that large of an association with her...there are other Daphnes...in Harry Potter there's Daphne Greengrass, sister of Astoria Greengrass, the wife of Draco Malfoy. In general, I just see a Daphne as a light-weight, springy girl. There's nothing wrong with that...that basically indicates that it's a nymph/fairy name...interesting that it originally was the name of a nymph.
