[Opinions] Geraldine
I've recently been growing rather fond of the name Geraldine. I don't know how this has happened. There's no celebrity or great fictional character named Geraldine that springs to mind. Out of nowhere I've developed a fascination with it.I expect that it won't get a lot of love here. What do you think?Although I don't normally care much for Mary, I do like Geraldine Mary.

I was actually thinking about this name today and found myself saying, "It actually isn't half bad". Once I got over the initial attack of the uglies that overcame me every time I saw/heard Geraldine, I evaluated its look and sound and almost kinda liked it.

I like it and have it on my long list. It's a great name.

I like Geraldine. A lot.
I really like he harshness of the ger-sound paired with the softness of the dine-sound, if that makes any sense...
Geraldine Mary is very pretty - my own favorite Geraldine combo is Geraldine Margot (like Llewella's).

The Gerald- beginning turns me off. How do you feel about Ernestine?

My great-great aunt's name was Geraldine. She was very outspoken and the whole "mighty with a spear meaning" fit her perfectly.

I knew a Geraldine! She was so beautiful and sweet. We called her "Ger". And for celebrities, I think one of Charlie Chaplin's children or grandchildren is a Geraldine Chaplin...?I will go out there and say yay to Geraldine. And Geraldine Mary is so elegant in a quiet, mossy-green kind of way.

Can't say I'm feeling the love...but that's probably due to personal acquaintance.

I like it. I'm also not sure why, but there's something satisfying and rather elegant about the sound of it. Geraldine Mary is a nice solid combo. I really don't like Gerry or Geri, though, which would put me off it a little.

Read Coleridge's poem "Christabel" for a Geraldine with a difference!I prefer it to Gerald, which is unusual for me: usually I'd go for Joseph rather than Josephine, Robert rather than Roberta etc. But not enough to ever use it. I used to play with a really boring Geraldine when I was little: perhaps that had influenced me.Geraldine Mary has got a lovely 1930s air about it! Geraldine Tiffany, for instance, would be dreadful.

Coleridge's GeraldineI love that poem so very much, but oddly associate the spookiness of the work with the name Christabel rather than Geraldine - not sure how that happened. Maybe it had to do with knowing a cute-as-a-button Geraldine at the same time I was reading it!

I really like it, and I'm not sure why. It's not really pretty. There's just something attractive about it. Geraldine Mary is alright, since it's reminiscent of my Geraldine Margot combo. It doesn't really do anything for me any more, though.
