[Opinions] WDYTO Persephone?
Lately I've been attracted to several names from Greek mythology, Persephone being one of them. I heard it on the history channel the other night, and was thinking it sounded very mellifluous. Today, also on the history channel, I heard the name Ariadne, and also like it about a million times better than its Latin equivalent Arianna. How do you feel about these names?
If I like these, can you suggest others I might like? Also, does anyone know how to pronounce Pasiphaë? It is like pass-ah-fay?

The umlaut on the e in Pasiphae makes it...Pass-if-eye-ee. The umlaut causes it to be a seperate syllable.
I love Persephone. It's so dark, but pretty, and I really wouldn't mind seeing one.
And ditto about Ariadne vs. Arianna. Arianna's way too common, plus too many people spell it Aryana/Aryanna, as in Aryan.

I think Persephone is a pretty name, but it's also annoying and slightly pretentious. For some reason it reminds me of Bella Swan, and that's not a good thing.

I also like the names Antigone and Calliope very much.
Guinevere is also one of my favorites.I love the name Lucifer - I love the sound, I love the meaning.
I wish it wasn't rendered practically unusable by a certain prince of darkness (contrary to the name meaning, right?) PS I should totally try to bring Lucifer back from the dark side ;)

I love almost everything about Lucifer too, but I fear there would be a lot of prejudice agaist a child with the name from some people. Though that does depend upon where the child grows up. Because I'm not religious, it might seem as though I'm trying to make a 'statement' or something. I'd use it in the middle, definitely. :)

Yeah, it's a bummer that such an awesome has such bad associations.

I like Persephone better than Ariadne, even though I think both are great. I actually know someone with the name Persephone, believe it or not.And I suggest Aikaterine, Tisiphone, and Mneme.I I think Pasiphae (sorry, I don't know how to type it with the two dots over the e!) is pronounced pass-if-AY-ee.[edited for typo]
