Jake and Sloane met while they were in college. She was majoring in Education. He was a Biology major and active in the ROTC as an officer. They remained friends throughout college but didn't start dating until after graduation. Jake, after his graduation, entered Medical school in the Washington, D.C. area and continued his career as an officer in the Navy while Sloane continued her education. After she graduated, she spent the summer traveling before starting Graduate school in the Fall; she planned on getting her Master's in American Studies. At this time, they were both living in the DC Metro area and began spending time with each other on a regular basis, and it wasn't long before the two became a couple.
After Sloane graduated, she got a job as a high school History teacher and Jake now works permanently in the Navy as a Medical Officer. They got married after his graduating and are living in Virginia, not far from the city.
