Aaron and Leila have spent a wonderful two years together. Leila just gave birth to a baby boy, Matthew Thomas Burke. Matt is an adorable little baby with dark hair and mysterious grey eyes. Two weeks before Matt's arrival, a social worker contacted Aaron and Leila, saying that she had Aaron's daughter and wondered if Aaron and Leila wanted to take her in. The girl's name is Rebecca Marie Lawson. Aaron was shocked that he had a daughter. He remembered a relationship in his freshman year of college with a girl named Emily Lawson. Their relationship was a one-night stand and a mistake for both of them. Aaron didn't know that Emily had gotten pregnant, but it made sense to him that she would have wanted to raise the child herself--Emily was a free spirit and not easily tied down to anyone or anything. The social worker told the Burkes that Emily died in a car accident on her way to work about three months previously and that it had taken her that long to track down Aaron.

Aaron and Leila discussed what they should do. Aaron had told Leila about his relationship, but that he didn't know anything other than that. They decided that it was in Rebecca's best interest to adopt her into their family if she was willing. Apparently, Emily had always told her daughter good things about her short relationship with Aaron, and the little girl wanted to stay with him and Leila. She was excited about the prospect of a little brother and has adapted to life with the Burkes fairly quickly.
