[Opinions] Aristotle
There was a guy with two small children shopping at the store I work at tonight. As they were leaving, I heard him call the boy Aristotle! This boy had to be under 5, and the girl was, too. I wish I could have asked her name, but they were already leaving and I didn't want to be weird. I feel a name like Aristotle would be difficult to carry, but it was pretty cool to hear in real life on a young child.

Aristotle is a bit much for me, but I wish I had the courage to use it because it's such a great namesake. At least he can go by Aris.
Great. I wonder if they were Greek, or dad was just a former philosophy student? Can't help thinking of the line in Monty Python's Philosopher's Song, though.
That is pretty cool. I rather like unwieldy names on little ones, they can be pleasantly surprising. Aristotle isn't something I would use, but it is pleasing to see it used. Ari would make it more livable as he grows. Man, it's too bad he didn't say the little girls name, too!
Okay
My hipster sense is tingling.
IDK, man. That's too much, even for me. I can't envision anyone naming their kid that for any reason other than to look all sooper-intelligent and/or sooper-ironic. Even if they're Classics people. Just can't see it. :-/
ADDENDUM: Okay, I didn't take into account the possibility that Aristotle might be a more common name elsewhere. IDK if that's true, but I'm just throwing it out there. Even if that's the case, I still don't like it. I AM CULTURALLY INSENSITIVE AND I AM TOTES OKAY WITH THAT. (Caps means I need to go to bed, sorry.)

It's not common here; we're a rural, unhipster area. I am inclined to think he was a classics guy more than a hipster guy.
How cool! I used to go to school with an Aristotle. He usually went by Aris. I was excited when I actually met an Aristotle.
