[Opinions] Alban
I never hear this name mentioned, and it's actually one I like rather well. I am a chorister in the National Cathedral Choral Society, and the National Cathedral is affiliated with St. Alban's school (on the same campus actually as the cathedral), so it is a comfortable sort of a name to be, and one I find rather elegant.

Oh, wait, that's Albin.
ANyway, I don't really like it. Nor do I like the nn Albie. Sorry. ):

I quite like it. I considered this a while ago when I loved the nn Albie but not the full name Albert.
I love old saints' names, and this one seems particularly user-friendly. Anselm is another great one that could stand more use.
double post.

This is on my PNL. I always loved Albert (still do), but when I read about St. Alban, I sort of thought, "this is the name I loved all along!"
It's a great sound--simple, gentle, but strong. It's sophisticated, but in a discreet way, which I like. Alban ftw!
There's also Albin, which is kinda cool in its own right.

Alban is one of my favorite names and hope to use it someday. It is the name of an uncle through marriage, with good associations. It's one of those names where I can appreciate the sound, the meaning, and famous bearers. It also would be partially in honor of my hometown. I also have an ancestor named Aubin, not sure if it has the same etymology though.
I should also mention, I'm not too sure about using it in the first name place, I usually assign it as a middle name.
