[Opinions] Re: Apocalypse?
Was she joking? That's like naming your child "End of the World". If it's true she named her child that, I wonder if she even knew what it means.ETA: And since I can't stop myself from imagining this sort of situation, imagine a parent telling the kid: "Apocalypse, stop it...Apocalypse, NOW." or something along those lines.

I feel compelled to point out that the word "apocalypse" actually means "revelation." Cultural context has given it the connotations of the end of the world depicted in the New Testament book Revelation, but it is not necessarily that. Apocalypse is a Jewish/early Christian literary genre from ~200 BCE - 200 CE that involves a revelation (often in a dream) of God's judgment unfolding, which usually involves a lot of mystical imagery.Still, though, Apocalypse is a ridiculous name. Plus, if you wanted to name your baby such a thing, I think Eschaton (which really does mean "end times" in the apocalyptic sense) would make a much better given name.
