[Opinions] Re: Emmaleigh
in reply to a message by Donham
Would it be easier as Emily Lilian? (still with nn Emma) Because I think that Emmaline/Emmeline Lilian is REALLY hard to say, but I don't know that I love love Emma as just a nn.

I can't see that Emmaleigh and Emily are supposed to be pronounced any differently, so they're both awkward with Lilian. I don't like the spelling Emmaleigh at all, but then overly-creative spellings bother me in general; Emily is really the way to go.
Emma Lilian, from your signature, sounds far better. Very pretty!
Edited to add: You're wondering if Emma is all right by itself as a first name. Certainly! It's etymologically unrelated to Emily and is a perfectly good first name in its own right.

That is already one of my top two names :) But my thought was- "Is Emma okay on its own as a fn?"

Emma is a name in its own right. Like I said, my gg's name was Emma. I also have a second cousin named Emma (and she's a state representative.) I like that Emma can be used for little girls and for adults. Emma was on my list for a long time because it's a family name, but it's too popular for me now. My first cousin Nichole has a six month old named Emma Grace. One of my friends at church has an Emma Grace.
That being said, I do like the look and sound of the name. It's very pretty, and I think Emma Lilian would be nice.
