Yes, I have heard that before. Because I have never heard of Myra Hindley (I am American), it doesn't really phase me, and Myra has been in the top 1000 year pretty much since the name statistics were first recorded.I think the disdain for Myra is regional enough so that I would still use it. After all, I am sure the name isn't the reason why the person did something wicked.

Oh, I know that her name didn't cause her to harm people. It is just an association that is far too strong for me to ever consider using the name. I don't even like it. Myra Hindley is first person many people associate with the name Myra.

Probably because it was relatively unusual, so it looked like a one-owner name. Or maybe that kind of sexual violence seems worse when enjoyed by women? Because nobody stopped using Ian because of Brady ...
