I like them both: I'm more used to Eleanor, but Elinor has an air of business-like streamlining that I enjoy.

Tennyson wrote a poem in which he gave Eleanor four syllables for some daft poetic reason! El-e-a-nor. Sad.

Eleanor is one of my favorite names but I can't stand Elinor.
Other variations I like are Eleonora (my best friends name), Ellenore, Elnora & Elenor.

I prefer Eleanor to Elinor, but love both.

I also love Eleonora, Lenore, Leonora, and Nora, but Eleanor is my favorite of them all.

I like both spellings but if i'd had to choose i'd take Eleanor.

Same here. I used to only like Elinor but Eleanor is growing on me. Still I prefer Elinor.

Although I prefer Eleanore even more. I also like Lenore and Norah quite a bit.

Eleanor. Elinor looks incomplete to me. Like it's missing a letter.

I like Eleanor best because it's the family version - there are a lot of them in my family, but Elinor is more common in Wales, and it's very nice too. Leonora is probably my favourite of the other related names.

Elinor looks soooo oversimplified to me that it's just ugly. And my favourite version is definitely Lenore!

I prefer Elinor because I don't like the "lean" look - and also because it reminds me of Jane Austen's heroine Elinor Dashwood.

I really like Eleanor and Elinor, but I'd probably go with Eleanor.

Lenore is gorgeous. I like this spelling the best. I think I'd probably be more likely to use Lenore than Eleanor even though they're both lovely names.

I know that Elinor is legit, but Eleanor just always seemed more legit to me, and also more elegant. Eleanor brings to me the picture of a queen...Elinor a common woman.

I think there's an Eleanora or Eleanore at school. I think we also have an Eleanor...so I'd have to say that my school has some variations of it.

Since my family btuchers the name Eleanor so terribly (think "Elliner"), I would choose Eleanor because it looks the least "Elner" like. I like the nice round "ella-NOR" sound, and Eliner looks nasally and frigid to me.

I mostly prefer Eleanora, because there is a better chance of it being said properly (Elinera is tricky to say)

Although I love both Elinor and Eleanor, I prefer Elinor. However, Lenore's my absolute favorite.
