Today in my French class, there was an example with a girl named Béa (pronounced bay-AH), and I became instantly enamored. I think I'd even like it as a name on it's own, not just a nickname for Beatrix/-ce.

With that pronunciation I like it as a nickname for Beata or the Italian pronunciation of Beatrice.

I have never cared for Beatrice/Beatrix but I do love Beatriz which has bay-AH as the first two syllables.

I agree it's a very cute nn for Beatrice or Beatrix, more so than Bea pron,. "Bee" IMO.

I think it's cute! I do not like Beatrice or Beatrix, so Béa would have to be the full name for me, too.
