I adore LucindaIts probably my top girls name at the moment, has even taken over Alice which has been a long time favourite. However I do love the name Lucy, and I don't know if you could avoid it. Lu is pretty cute though.

I think most girls with the name Lucinda would get called Lucy for short. I think it would be pretty difficult to avoid actually. If you like the nn Lu, then what about Louisa instead and spelling the nn Lou?

I like Lucinda, but don't like Lu because it just sounds like 'loo' (ie: toilet). All the Lucindas I know primarily go by Lucy. I can't really see it being completely avoided, particularly when free will jumps in and little Lucinda decides she prefers to be called Lucy, not Lu.

It's very pretty. I like it a lot, and I am sure she could go by Lucinda without being Lucy.Lucinda Frances is a favorite.

Love Lucinda, and I really love Lucy as a nickname or on its own. I know Lou has been used for Louise and Louisa, so I see no problem with Lu or even Lou for Lucinda.

Lucinda is a pretty name. I like Lu for a pet, but not so much for a person. Cinda would be darling as a nickname, and I like Cindy too.I think you can avoid Lucy as a nickname for Lucinda by using something else, such as Lu, Cindy, or Cinda. Other people would likely follow suit.

I love Lucinda. I think that Lucy could be avoided by using Cindy as a nickname. I personally prefer Lucy to Cindy, though. I don't like Lu. I'd much rather have Lucy than Lu.

I knew a Lucinda who was only ever known as Cindy. She was a rather plain child in a family of beautiful sisters, and Lucy simply did not suit her.Lu is a bit staccato. But then, I do like Lucy, and regard it as a name in its own right.
