[Opinions] Azzurra
I've had this name for my mind for a bit, in spite of it being a bit dated (it had a peak of popularity in the late 70s/early 80s in Italy, without however becoming very common) and it's considered slightly tacky (but not really trashy). But well, I happen to like the colour blue and its implications and I'm often drawn to the letter "A" as an initial.

Hmm ... Italy are in the World Cup this year! It might well have a popularity surge, especially if they do well.

It reminds me a bit of Nastro Azzurro beer, but it's a fun-looking name and it's got a great sound.

I like it, but I prefer it with just one z or r.

Hm...I usually wouldn't like a name like this, but this name is a bit intriguing.

I like Azzurra, but I prefer Azura because it seems less like it's "trying too hard" if that makes any sense.I tried to use this in a story once, but it didn't work out.
Great name though. Also like Azure. :)

I agree with you here. Unfortunately, though Azzurra is the proper Italian spelling, to a native English speaker it looks as though the name should be Azura and the parents got kre8iv.

I know Azzurra is a legitimate spelling to some, but from the view of an English speaking person it looks more "out there" than anyone needs.Glad you see it's not me putting it down as much as it is me saying it's not the best choice.

I think I like the Azura spelling better. The double consanants makes me think of a purring cat.

How is it pronounced? Interestingly, I have known an Azure (said "azhur", an older girl in my daycare growing up, she had a brother, James - for years I thought "Azure and James" was THE coolest sibset EVER) and a toddler, Azura ("ah-ZOO-rah").Azzurra is sure intersting looking - is it the proper Italian word for blue, or is it creatively spelled in any way? As an english speaker, if I was given this name to say, I'd hazard a try at "Azzer-ah". Is that even close?

Sounds like a name in a fantasy novel. Like for a wizard.
