[Opinions] Mila

Can I be a teenager for a second and say "eww" to both Miley and Milly!
Mila is gorgeous! Very Slavic and pretty, and the meaning is just so sweet. I pron. it MILL uh. It's already a short name, and I don't see why people would feel the need to further shorten it to something awful like Milly. If they do, then I would just firmly tell them her name is Mila.

Thank you - I agree with everything you said!!! :)
Thanks for all your replies :)
What a gorgeous post - thank you!
Assuming you pronounce the first syllable "my" than I don't know why anyone would call her Milly. And I don't think it's too close to Miley at all. But you could spell it Myla to avoid the visual connection at least.
Cute name.
Cute name.
it would be pronounced Mill-a - so yeah, I'm wondering when she's a baby/toddler people getting cutesy and calling her Milly.
I like it and don't find it similar to Miley that much (which I also dislike). I think until she's young you can monitor nicknames and stop people from calling her Milly if they happen to (though it's not that obvious a nn for Mila). Of course, when she 's old enough to decide for herself, it's another business.
i dont see that much of a mila-miley connection. and if the kid/you doesnt want to be called milly, then im sure she/you can insist upon it
