My niece is Raelynn, my prefered spelling. Ray to me is for a boy. The name grew on me, but was perfect for my sister and brother in law. The book she found it in said that it means 'doe meadow'. Ray/ Rae is a family name that she wanted to pass down, and he is a hunter. We also have a Rayleigh in the family tree (a month or two younger than Raelynn) and there's a boy Raylee two years younger than them. Poor boy, stuck with a girl's name.
