[Opinions] Evander WDYT?
I love the name and the meaning, much better than Evan or Alexander. What does the name bring to mind for all of you? Do you think it sounds wimpy? _________________________________________________

Wimpy? Not at all!
My husband James' middle name is Evander. ♥
Because of that I see a funny guy with pretty smile who loves photography, cashews, black coffee, sunglasses, playing guitar/piano, and riding horses. hehe..How's that?-Seda*

Most certainly not wimpy, quite the opposite..A child like with name Evander actually has quite a lot to live up to. I encountered this name by the courageous boxer Evander Holyfield. I actually think it sounds more butch than the top ten popular boy names in the States. It's a good name.

It has a nice sound and a good meaning. It sounds a little like Olivander, the name of the wand maker in Harry Potter. I wouldn't describe it as wimpy, but it is not very masculine. It is almost sexless, which, depending upon your preferences, needn't be a problem. A boy with this name could always go be Van, which sounds plenty manly for anybody. Vander would be a good nickname to. (I wouldn't recoment Evie, at least until he is in college.)

Evander is okay I see it as Wimpy at all but I must admit to prefer Evan and Alexander

I love Evander; it doesn't sound wimpy at all! I associate it most strongly with the character in mythology.

Evander doesn't sound very whimpy to me, rather posh or like a surname but not whimpy. I like Evan better though.Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I like it. It seems like a strong name to me. The only negative thing is that it might be associated with Evander Holyfield, but if you're into boxing, it might not be a bad thing.
