UN: Cassandra Grace Logan
Book (or series): the Troubleshooters series by Suzanne Brockmann
DH: Chief Kenneth "Wildcard" Karmody, U.S. Navy SEAL (age)
DW: Savannah Von Hopf-Karmody, "Van" (age)
DD: Katarina Isabella Rose Von Hopf-Karmody, "Katie Rose" (nb)
Ken and Savannah were pleasntly surprised when they discovered Van was pregnant with their first child. As soon as they found out it was a little girl, they were ecstatic. The first people they told were their closest friends, mostly a mix of Ken's current and former SEAL teammates and their families. His best friends, Roger "Sam" Starrett and John "Nils" Nilsson, both already fathers, couldn't believe Ken was finally having a kid. Ken was not really close with any of his living family. Savannah held off telling her parents because she wasn't sure how her mom would react, since her mom still wasn't completely happy that she didn't marry a rich man with a high paying career. Surpringly, she was happy to have her first grandchild. Her dad was fine with the whole situation, despite continually being interrupted with phone calls from his office. He actually did come close to tears when they told him what the baby's second middle name would be.
Katarina was chosen because of its regal sound, in relation to Savannah's grandfather having been an Austrian prince. The name itself was her favorite out of all the Austrian/German names she could find. Isabella honors one of Ken's teammates, Izzy Zanella. It was very important to use this because on one of the SEAL team's OUTCONUS missions during the pregnancy, the helo went down in enemy territory, and Ken broke his leg. They managed to call for extraction, but the extraction site was a few miles away. Izzy, despite not being the team's medical corpsman, figured out how to splint Ken's leg and then helped him walk and watched his back for enemies during the journey. Ken passed out in the rescue helicopter from pain, and Izzy made sure that he was alright and then contacted Savannah as soon as possible so she wouldn't worry. The second middle name, Rose, made Savannah's father cry because it honors his mother, Ingerose, whom he is pretty close too. She was one of Savannah's best female influences when she was growing up. (Also, during World War II, she was a spy for the US and its allies, which is actually where she met Savannah's royal grandfather, who also was an agent for the allies masquerading as a Nazi.)
Note: I have to look through the specific book in the series concentrated on these two characters so that I can see if middle names/ages are explicitly mentioned or hinted at and then I'll add them or just make them up if not.
