[Opinions] Amadea
My husband and I were discussing future names again, and the name Amadea came up as a possible first or middle name for a girl. It is the feminine form of the male name, Amadeus.
Admittedly, this idea is a little off-beat, so I wonder how it sounds to others.
What do you think? Terrible? Pretty? Too unusual? (Is it pretentious?)
Also, my husband suggested that this name might go well with Daphne -- one of my personal favorite girl names. Do you like either of these?:

This is one of my top 5 names. Beautiful. I would prefer it with something longer than Daphne.
So glad others like this name too!
Thanks for your comments, everyone.
It's exciting and relieving to see that others are attracted to this name as well. I'm really getting attached to the idea.
I like the idea of pairing this name with Daphne, although the fact that "Daphne Amadea" flows better would be disappointing to my husband. He really likes the idea of Amadea coming first. I'm a little torn myself: I like both names so much that I almost hate to bury either inside a middle name.

I adore Amadea! It's a beautiful and unusual name without being over the top. It's not pretentious.
However, I cannot stand Daphne (sorry). I just can't. I hate the sound of it (can't stand Phoebe, Esme etc either). I would love to see Amadea being used as a first name but I'm not sure it flows very well with Daphne as a middle name.

I would use it. It's very pretty. Daphne Amadea is an attention grabber. Very unexpected but perfect.
Interesting -- I did not realize that Amedea might also be a valid spelling. I just assumed it would be written Amadea because of the spelling of Mozart's name. (I notice that Antique_Cherub spelled it this way too, when writing "Amedeo".)
I'll have to think about which spelling is better. At the moment I like both.

Amadea is pretty. I prefer Amadea to Daphne, but I think that Daphne Amadea flows better than Amadea Daphne.
Love it
It's got a lovely sound.
Daphne Amadea is especially lovely!
I'm hesitant of using it myself as it means "love of God" and I'm an atheist! But maybe I could rationalise that I'm honouring Mozart.. I'll just have to marry a classical musician and I'm sorted.

Oo Daphne Amadea! Lovely! I love the name Amadea probably because of Amedeo which was supposedly one of the Vampire Armand's names in the Vampire Chronicles.
