I just recently started liking this name. What do you think of it? Do you think it would always get mixed up with Sterling? My combo right now is Starling Marjolaine. Thanks!

In my area starlings are serious pests. Personally, I don't mind the birds (in small groups, that is). As a girl's name it's alright I guess.
Incidentally, it reminds me of a book I read with an Asian American character named Star Ling. I spent the whole book wondering what posessed the author (it felt like she only had one name "Starling" and, considering her personality, it fit her.)
Maybe Starling will grow on me but right now I'm not sure.

I love Starling. Haha, I also very much like Clarice - I think that she depicts strength and power despite the fact that she did eventually go with Hannibal Lector. I think she just has a certain "I can do it myself" sort of thing, and I think she has spunk, just like Starling itself.
I love those little birds. I think they're so cute, and I think that Starling is strong, spunky and it's also very peaceful and pretty.
I like your combo as well.

Hello, Clarice. It reminds me of Jodie Foster's character Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs. It is very evocative of fava beans and a nice chianti. ;-)The movie character came to mind for me first but ultimately it's strongest connotation is just of the bird. I think because a starling is a real, familiar thing that would be enough to keep people from mixing it up with Sterling. Inasmuch as I don't mind the idea I don't really like the name, though. It sounds just a bit too cheesy for me. Like how Rose and Iris are on one side of the fence, but Dandelion totally crosses a line. Or Orion and Stella versus Morningstar, a similar concept that I find incredibly tacky on a real person (I've met two). Lark or Robin are sweet to me but Starling is not quite striking the same note.

I have no problem with it being related to Clarice :D

She was pretty neat, to my recollection. :-)I think if you like it, it could be a workable name.

Thanks, if I think it's too unusable later...it would make a pretty nice name for a cat.
