Darius (or rather Dariusz) became quite popular in Poland in the 20th century. It was really popular in the 1960s (top ten).
According to statistics, there is currently about 314 thousand men named Dariusz in Poland, about 126 thousand of them born in the 60s.
I have no idea what is the reason for it and Dariusz was extremely rare in Poland or unused at all prior to the 20th century.
