I was thinking of posting about the name Timothy yesterday but never got around to it and now today it is the name of the day!WDYTO Timothy for a boy? I realy struggle to like boys names but this one is growing on me. Do you think someone named Timothy is very likely to go by the nickname Tim? I'm not sure that I like Tim that much.Any combo ideas for Timothy?Thank you.

LOVE Timothy! Lots of them go by Tim, but you can insist on Timothy at least for some time. Also, if it's a mn, you won't have to worry about short versions.Can try these on either side of Timothy for combos since some work better on 1 side than the other:

I think I like Timothy as a middle name.
I've never known a Timothy that hasn't gone by Tim. Sorry. One Tim I know also goes by Timo (team-o). Kinda different.

I know about 3 guys named Tim, but I've never heard any of them called Timothy once. They get called Timmy every once and a while as a joke but none of them ever get called Timothy. It's one of those names that most people assume if someone's name is Timothy, they go by Tim. IMO, if you don't like the nickname, don't use the name, especially with boys, because boys as so much more likely to use nicknames.

Well, Timothy "Tim" Shepard from a few Hinton books really makes me love the name....really, I love it.Hm...I know a guy named Timothy Earl and another named Timothy Michael.

I like it. My uncle is Timothy Allen "Tim" but I think if you establish that he will always be called Timothy you reduce the chances of him being called Tim.

I like it, but only because the two that I know are cool people. I think a Timothy is more than very likely to go by Tim... The Timothys I know almost never get called Timothy..Timothy Brian, Timothy James, Timothy Cavan, Timothy Orion, Timothy Gawain, Timothy Donovan, Timothy Marcus, Timothy John, Timothy Evan, Timothy Mark, Timothy Edward, Timothy Jonathan, Timothy Luke, Timothy Richard, Timothy Cael, Timothy Dorian, Timothy Hephaestus, Timothy Anton, Timothy Rylan, Timothy Everard

I know plenty of Tims, but no Timothys. I think people shortening the name to Tim is inevitable. That's not such a bad thing, though; Tim is every bit as adorable as Timothy, IMHO. I think it's a great NN.Timothy James
