Help[Opinions] Hawk or Holt?
I just found out my wife and I are going to have a little boy, and we want his first name to start with an 'H' and to be Scandinavian. I like Hawk (our first son's name is Wolf) and she likes Holt. What do you all think, and why?
Also, we're considering Hagen, Hammond, and Holden, but they're not front-runners right now.

I like Hawk much better, but it seems a little gimmicky.
Even though it's just as gimmicky, I like Falcon better, it sounds more like a name.
Other names along the animal line:
Astor is a name that means "hawk"
Andor- eagle
Griffin
I don't like Holt, Hagen,or Holden. Hammond is ok.

Harlan
Heath
Heron

Hmmm, Heath just might work. It's technically an Old English name, but the root is connected to the Old Norse "heiðr", so you could make the case that it's also a Scandinavian name, although not in tradition. I'll run it by the wife, thanks!

Congrats! I agree with the other posters that Hawk and Wolf is a little too themey. Holt sounds very harsh to me. I prefer Holden. Here's a few other suggestions:
Hans
Harald
Henning

Like Array, I would normally vote for "Hawk" over "Holt", but I think that it's too themey...(btw, I like Wolf. That's neat.) ;-)
I do like Holt, though. It's a cool name and it goes with Wolf because of the uniqueness. Good luck and congratulations!

Two little boys. Lots of energy around the house!
I like the name Wolf. It's not my usual taste, but it has a jaunty, stylishness to it that I like.
I'm sorry, but I don't care for either Hawk or Holt. Wolf and Hawk will make people giggle behind your backs. Holt isn't Scandinavian to my ears. It sounds more like the bland surname trend in the U.S. It might make sense if it was a family surname of you or your wife. Other than that, I would stay away from it. (This assumes you live in the U.S. It might work somewhere else.)
Others have probably mentioned this already, but how about Hakon / Haakon? Harold has tons of history to it. Then there's always Hans, Henrik.

P.S. I do like Hammond a lot. The only potential down-side is the nn Ham. Wolf and Ham? Perhaps I'm just borrowing trouble, but this seems like another pair set for ridicule. Good luck.

Haakon is a cool name, but it's too ethnic. It's not a name or a word that people would normally recognize. And I just plain don't like Harold. (I knew a Harold as a kid and didn't like him. Now that's who I think of when I hear the name.) Too bad, because it is a strong, historical name. Hans and Henrik are acceptable, but they aren't ethnically centered in Old Norse. I have a lot of peculiar rules when it comes to picking my kids names. Makes for a very small field.
I have the same feelings about Hammond that you do. A cool name, but Wolf and Ham? That's a problem.

Yes, Wolf & Hawk are a little too much. Holt does sound like a last name to me. Holden is really cute and I think would work perfectly.
Have you considered Hans? I know it's quite obviously Scandinavian and has been rather popular but it's nice and would go well with Wolf.
There's also Hakan which is related to Hagen and is also pretty cute!

Hawk would normally get my vote, since I like Hawkeye as a middle name (geeky, geeky me). However, Wolf and Hawk is WAY too much, IMO.
