Help[Opinions] Elina
Opinions on Elina? Btn says it it the Swedish form of Helen. I like is much more than Alina. Plus it gives you the options for nns Elle or Ellie, which I love. And I'm not a fan of Elena because the pronouncation confusion.
How do Elina and Cecily sound together?

I love Elina. It is my best friend's name (she is Finnish). Elina and Cecily sound ok together, but perhaps my cultural scope is a little narrow because I wouldn't ever expect to hear those names together. I guess I like Cecily Renee and Elina Diane better, but only because I find Elina Renee a bit sing-songy.

Elina is a pretty name. I think it works with Cecily.
I prefer Cecily Anna and Elina Renee, but Cecily Renee and Elina Diane go together well too. How about Cecily Diana and Elina Renee? I prefer Diana to Diane, but Cecily Diane and Elina Renee would be fine too.

I really like Cecily Diana! Oddly enough I never thought about using Diana in place of Diane. Diane was my aunts mn who passed away and I've always wanted to name my daughter after her but I've never loved Diane. Diana is much prettier and Cecily Diana is a great combo. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I'm Swedish and I love it. ;-) I have only met one or two people named Elina so it is rather uncommon but still common (I think it was in the top 100?). Anyway, it is a great name and much better than plain old Elin.

I've loved Elina for a long time, and I don't think too many people are aware it even exists. I bounced it off my non-name nerd relatives once, and they thought it was okay. I'm in love with it, though. :)

I prefer Elena (el-AINE-ah). Elina sounds clumsy to me and when I say Elina paired with Diane I want to say el-AINE-ah any way. Elena Diane is nice combo, though. Not a fan of Cecily though Elena and Cecily sound better together. Elina and Cecily is too nasaly.

Elena is beautiful but the correct prn is E-leh-nah (according to btn). I have always heard it prn like Elaina but I have posted the question numerous times on name boards and the responses seem to be about 50/50 on the 2 pronounciations.
