[Opinions] Ione?
I feel the signs of labor coming on this evening and also a little doubt. We had essentially decided on Iris Caroline for our second daughter on June 30th. I just got a magazine with Ione (eye-own-ee) Skye on the cover and I was a little intrigued. What about Ione Caroline? Big sister Nina Victoria. What are some possible pitfalls with Ione? Mispronunciation? Too unique? Doesn't fit well with Nina? Sounds like something else?I guess I could leave the hospital with a no name baby girl if I am undecided...Thanks again, everyone.

Well I love Iris Caroline -- but, I like Ione with Nina too. It's a pretty neat name and I like the "feel" of it. I think you should use it. When you see your baby you can determine whether she's an Ione or an Iris. :) Please let us know!

I prefer Iris with Caroline because Ione would have too many long I and N sounds with it. Ione and Nina would be difficult to say together. I think Ione would probably pose some pronunciation problems. I like Ione, but I think Iris definitely fits the best in this case.

As I pronounce it "EE-uh-nee" I see Ione and Nina as too similar to live under one roof. Sometimes I do say "EYE-uh-nee" but then the long "i" sound doesn work next to Caroline, with another long "i" sound. Oh, just name her Anna Caroline and have done with it. Or, Elsa Caroline. Wait, Ailsa Caroline. Maybe? Um, Ada Caroline? Gee. This is hard, isn't it? Good luck! P.S. Now Jada Caroline sounds nice in my ears. I'm not much help at all, sorry.

I would stick with Iris. Not my favorite name, but it's a beautiful flower and a nice meaning. Ione and Nina is practically impossible to say together, and while Ione is nice, people will be mispronouncing it from the minute she is born.

I have to admit that I prefer Ione to Iris, actually I don't really like Iris at all. However Ione will have pronunciation diffculties. Other than that it is a nice name.

I think Ione is pretty! I think I like it better with Nina, too, although I wouldn't say it fits with Nina better than Iris necessarily. The only Ione I've ever known pronounced her name eye-OWN. So I'm sure plenty of people will say it that way. It's not a hard correction to make, though.

Definitely mispronunciation - I was at school with one, and when she learnt to type and found that her name was indistinguishable from 'lone' she was ... not happy.I do prefer Iris ... and although Ione has four letters, it also has three syllables! Would that spoil your pattern?

Ione, Caroline and Nina have too many N's in it. Stick with Iris.
