I knew someone named this that was Italian. He was born in Canada. He pronounced his name like "Jan."
I've heard it as ZHAHN.

I don't get what that pronunciation guide is saying. It looks like it's saying to pronounce it gih-an (hard g)... which is definitely incorrect.
The only question is whether it's one or two syllables. I know I've heard it with one before, but am not saying that it can't be with two.
