Do you like the name 'Charley' for a girl?
Is it okay to spell the name 'Charlie' for a female or should 'Charley' be used?

No; it sounds all male to me, however you spell it. But I don't like Charlotte, so that might be a factor.

I'm not that fond of it, unless it's a nickname for something like Charlotte. I'd be fine with it then. I think I prefer Charley for a female.
In my mind, Charlotte "Charley" is a fair-haired little girl, but this doesn't matter except if it's for a character.
