It's got a pretty sound, but would be constantly mispronounced in English. I could see Vere on a boy, and I've seen Fair used as a name, although it's not something I'd choose.

In Afrikaans it means either a feather or a spring (the coiled metal kind, not the water source). And the V has an F sound ...
Veer with a V sound is too much like a dictionary word.

I prefer Vera.

It just reminds me of the photo sharing website. It has a kind of interesting sound though.
