[Opinions] WDYT of Sherwood?
It's the name of the forest in Robin Hood. I love place names, and I also love tree-ish names for boys (it means "bright forest"). I know that it's not really along the lines of most BtNers' taste in names, but I love it. I think it would go best as a middle name. WDYT of the name as a whole, and WDYT of these combos?
Adrian Sherwood
Amos Sherwood (loving it!)
August Sherwood
Caspian Sherwood (too elaborate for use, perhaps, but it sounds very nice)
Eamonn Sherwood (love this one, too)
Frederick Sherwood
Jason Sherwood
Ludvik Sherwood (would Ludovic work better?)
Lysander Sherwood
Oliver Sherwood (excellent, but perhaps too stereotypically Anglo)
Padraic Sherwood (perhaps Patrick Sherwood?)
Percival Sherwood (rather pretentious)
Ronan Sherwood
Rowan Sherwood
Tycho Sherwood (sounds great, but doesn't work too well stylistically)
Viktor Sherwood (or Victor, but I like the spelling of Viktor more)
William Sherwood (kinda boring)

It's totally awesome!
Ronan Sherwood is wonderful, Rowan is too naturey as is Caspian since it's a sea.
I also like:
Adrian Sherwood
August Sherwood (It is a little hippy but I like it!)
Eamonn Sherwood
Frederick Sherwood (Adore!)
Ludvik Sherwood (I like Ludvik best with Sherwood.)
Lysander Sherwood (So cool!)
Tycho Sherwood
Viktor Sherwood (I like Viktor too.)
William Sherwood (William is classic so it's never to boring to me, and Sherwood jazzes it up!)

Sherwood just sounds wimpy and at the same time posh to me, just like Sheridan (which then reminds me of the British TV show "Keeping Up Appearances"). It's a good thing that you see this name as a middle name only, because I can't imagine the teasing a child would endure if it had to put up with Sherwood as a first name.
With that said, I think a name like Sherwood will need to be paired with a masculine, no-nonsense first name. The only combination that I can think of is Marcus Sherwood, though the downside of that one is that Marcus ends with -s and that Sherwood starts with S-.

I think that name is awesome but not enough to get on my namelist.
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Sherwood.
Sherwood who?
Sherwood like you to open the door!
and that's the first thing that came to mind. But I think it's fine, especially as a middle name. I like the sounds and the meaning.
These are all good IMO

I like it as a GP
I recently picked up Winseburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson, and I've been thinking about his name ever since. I really like it!
I'm fond of August Sherwood, Eamonn Sherwood, Frederick Sherwood, Oliver Sherwood, Ronan Sherwood, Tycho Sherwood, and William Sherwood.
May I suggest some combos?
Abram Sherwood
Adair Sherwood
Alaric Sherwood
Alban Sherwood
Alfred Sherwood
Alonso Sherwood
Arthur Sherwood
Barnaby Sherwood
Charles Sherwood
Clive Sherwood
Daniel Sherwood (I'm not even that fond of Daniel.)
Edgar Sherwood
Edmund Sherwood (YES!)
Emil Sherwood
Ethan Sherwood (I've realized that I really like Ethan, though its immense popularity offends me.)

Wowzers!
I think the following are pretty sweet indeed:
Alaric Sherwood (I don't like Alaric, but it's awesome here)
Arthur Sherwood
Edmund Sherwood (I think you meant to type "YES TIMES TEN MILLION!!!")
Emil Sherwood (fabulous.)
Ethan Sherwood (I also love Ethan, despite its popularity. It's what I would have been named had I been a boy.)
Godfrey Sherwood (I slightly prefer Godric, but no biggie)
Henry Sherwood
Ira Sherwood (lovely!)
Isaac Sherwood
Julian Sherwood
Leofric Sherwood (SUPER COOL! *adds Leofric to list*)
Lionel Sherwood (excellent combo, here!)
Nigel Sherwood (sounds great!)
Otto Sherwood
Philip Sherwood
Theobald Sherwood (I love how Germanic this combo feels)
Ulysses Sherwood (I actually think Sherwood Ulysses sounds better. It's awesome.)
Wolfgang Sherwood
Wulfric Sherwood (super. badass.)
Thanks! This was fun! Glad to know I'm not alone in loving Sherwood. I really find it quite handsome.

It's a great middle name, I think. It conjures up Robin Hood images, without seeming too ridiculous. I'd never use it for personal reasons, but I like Sherwood in theory.
Ronan Sherwood gets my vote. Eamonn Sherwood is really nice, too. I think it definitely works best with names that have a "medieval" feel.

I agree.
While I had some really great non-Medieval pairings in there, Sherwood goes best stylistically with similarly Medieval English names.
