[Opinions] Re: Walter
in reply to a message by Llewella
I know of a toddler Walter, though I've never met either him or his parents. My daughter is friends with his mother on a mommies message board. He was born the same month and year as my grandson, January 2008.
I know it's my age (sigh), but Walter is the ultimate fuddy-duddy old-man-with-shorts-and-high-socks-and-wearing-a-polyester-shirt-with-golf-clubs-on-it name to me. I couldn't believe it when my daughter told me that this woman named her baby Walter. I asked, "Is that a family name?" My daughter replied, "No, she just likes the name" and then I said, "What?! You're kidding!"
Maybe, as evidenced by the fact that you've seen another toddler Walter, it's becoming popular. I guess it's just the cycle of things, but I think that people in my age group will just never get how Walter can seem attractive. Younger people will just roll their eyes at us.
Since you mention Isabella and how sickeningly princessy it is to you, I will restate, (though I have recently already mentioned it) that Isabella is anything but that to me. It's heavy and clunky. If it *were* princessy to me, I think I'd love it, since I tend to like princessy names.
