My sister's name is Kadie and is pronounced a soft kay-dee. I was speaking to someone today named Katie and I pronounce it more like Kate-ee. I'm not sure that makes sense but the Kay part is definitely slightly longer and more pronounced in Kadie/Kady for me. My d's and t's don't sound similar at all either. I live in Scotland if it helps.
