[Opinions] Tangerine
If Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter "Apple", and fruit names are becoming trendy, then how about Tangerine? It has a nice ring to it.

I see Tangerine as both a fruit and the adjective pertaining to people and things from Tangier, Morocco. This makes it a bit difficult for me to see it as a name. I have a former instructor/friend from Tangier and I always remember him asking my class, "Do you know what people from Tangier are called? Tangerines!" The fruit got its name from Tangier. :-)

I couldn't ever take a Tangerine seriously. It sounds silly and childish. Same with Apple, Plum, Peach, etc...

It's better than Apple, in its sound and its greater length (leading to more nn possibilities). It also avoids the probable sniggers about the Garden of Eden which Apple will attract. But in general it's not a brilliant concept. I know a Chinese woman who tried to get her English-speaking friends to call her Plum instead of Mei-Lin, but nobody would. And lots of the nicer fruits have really unsuitable names for humans: Grapefruit? Mango? I think not.

I'm partial to Pomegranate.
Not really, but I am a fan of Afanen if that counts.

It sounds more like a pet name. It's not substantial enough, imo, it's childish.

DittoAnd I feel the same way about Apple.

It's tasty. It would be a nice unexpected middle name.

As I mentioned in a post in the last week or so, I went to school with a girl named Tangerine. We all called her Tangie and no one seemed to think it was odd. It DOES sound much better than Apple, doesn't it? While nms, it does seem to have a nice, soft flow.

personally, I like Clementine better, but Tangerine is nice too.

Well, I'm not a fan of any fruit name (not counting Clementine), but Tangerine is cute. I think I'd be a great nickname or a pet name.

For some reason this makes me think of the huge pumpkin in Cinderella
