I like both Leo and Maris, so I think this is a cool name. I'm guessing this would be used for a girl since Maris is typically feminine, and there are girl names that begin with Leo, so this seems fine for a girl.

Very cool. It does remind me of sea lion, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! I personally love Latin-rooted and sea-related names :)

It does sound like a Latin name for a sea lion. I'm also not sure what gender it is, Leo is male and Maris is female to me.

Sea lion? :-P *image popping in head of big California Sea Lion* Ok, prob'ly not quite what was intended, but that's the concept that comes to mind.
It does sound to me almost more like something like one would see in a biology texbook as a species name than on a person.

first thought that pops into my head is catfish... Leomaris is an alright name, different from naming someone Leonardo, but can still have the cute nickname Leo... but I can't really picture it on a person though...

Your creature image was a little more petit than mine.
