[Opinions] How would you pronounce Guy?
Would you pronounce it Guy, rhyming with Sky, or rhyming with me?
I am leaning toward the Gee pronunciation.
Also, do you like the name?
BTW, not planning on using it, just think it is an interesting name.

Rhyming with sky. I've never heard it pronounced the other way before. I knew a Guy once and he rhymed it with sky.

Well, I guess it depends on how I'm feeling. Living in Canada, we have many Guys who tend to be French so I pronounce their name as they want (rhyming with Me) but living on the west coast and with my English background I also use the My one easier than most.

Rhyming with "Me"Pronounced GHEE, it's a legitimate French name. Pronounced the other way, it just sounds like the parents were too lazy to name the baby. Personally, I have a soft spot for it because it's the name of one of my characters, but I'd never use it.

Artists can color the sky red because they know it's blue.

Guy, pronounced"Ghee", is a popular name in my area. Sometimes used alone, sometimes as Jean-Guy.

I prefer it Gee, but I knew someone named Guy as with sky. So I like it, either way, really. I probably wouldn't use it, though.

My initial response would be to pronounce it like the word "guy" unless I knew the bearer had some sort of French background.

It's pronounced like the word guy, rhyme sky, in English. If a particular Guy's name is pronounced Ghee, to me it means he's got French heritage, because that's the French pronunciation. When I adopted my Persian at age 4 he was named Guy, and I have always said it like guy despite my suspicion that his original owner called him "Ghee." He's too stupid to notice. I don't like the name.- chazda

GHEE (like "me"), and I have all my life...(m)Even before I started speaking French, I pronunced it that way. We have a stuffed ghost we bring out for Halloween, and he's Guy the Ghost. My mother named him so, and because she's always said it the French way, I do, too. What's odd is that she'd be the sort of person to go with the GYE pronunciation--she's never taken French and she's not really a Franglophile (which isn't really a word, but it definitely sounds cool)--but hearing the name pronunced any other way makes us both cringe.I love Guy, by the way. Awesome name--very cute.Array

Gee, rhyming with free...but I come from a bilingual (French/English) community, and that is how it is commonly pronounced here.

I'm English, so I would pronounce it to rhyme with sky. Gee is the French pronunciation and only really sounds right when said with a French accent IMO
