I love it! A friend of mine has a daughter called Indigo, after a Kula Shaker song. It's a cute name and I think it fits both boys and girls.

I love it as a male name, and think "Indy" is a great name. It also reminds me of Inigo Montoya from "The Princess Bride."

I think it's a hipsterish boy name, nms but okay. On a girl, I think it's one of those too-affected-seeming word-names that I tend to dislike. So spunkay and artsay, so femininity-free.

To me Indigo is a male name. It's one of those names I'd never use myself, but like to see it on other people's kids.

I actually like Indigo. I like the way it looks and sounds. It seems masculine to me (blue for a boy). ;-)

Lots of girls like blue and hate pink though, so it being blue wouldn't mean much to me. My cell phone's blue. Wouldn't want it to be pink. (would prefer red, green or purple, but not available in the model I chose).

I love it for a boy. I think the Indigo Girls connection gets kind of lame and also it seems like it could easily be made tacky on a girl.
I like the nickname Indie / Indy.
I have a character named Indigo Tully. His name used to be Indigo Sterling, then Indigo Tristan, then Indigo Padraig, (you get the point.)
I like that Indigo is cutting edge, but still not really "new" either.
It has enough hippie feel to be fun, but not too much like Sunshine or Rainbow.
Honestly, I think it probably works best paired with with a more traditional name. Indigo James is kind of one of my favourites.

Then don't. But some people do, and as long as they spell it right, I don't see the problem.
I look after an adorable little India, so that may be making me biased, but I really don't see the problem. It's not everyones style, sure.

I don't think I thought of Indigo rather than Inigo for the name until this site and looking at it... The way he says it could be mis-heard to sound like there's a light d in it. Still close enough to be confusing and stir up that movie image.

GIRL!! There was someone is history who coloniozed an island that grew alot of indigo and named his daughter Indigo. It will forever be a girls name to me because of that!

Blue for a boy.
There's a rather nice restaurant a few blocks from my house called Indigo Moon, so it really doesn't look human to me at all. But it does sound a whole lot better than Scarlett and Jade!
