It's currently my favourite of the Ed-names. I think it's refreshing; it's got a bit of bite to it, I like the almost-pause between syllables. And sure I can see it being cool on an older person, it makes me think of an intelligent, creative type.
Ted works fine for Edgar, but I'm not that fond of it myself, probs because it reminds me of a rather boring and vaguely yuppie-ish men's clothing chain we have here.
