[Opinions] Auxiliadora
Can't believe it is growing on me. Pronounced more or less like: ow-see-lee-a-DOOR-ah.It looks ugly to me. I don't like the Catholic connotations (personally). But I LOVE the sound.Opinions?

I don't like the sound or the look of it. Sorry. I can't help but think of the word auxiliary...

I love it but only as a middle name.I don't think it works in an English speaking accent though. It sounds beautiful in an Hispanic accent, or even another European accent like French, but it doesn't come across as nicely in an English speaking accent like American.

Too much. I don't like the aux part and it reminds me of 'axilla' (armpit). I don't know the Catholic connection (I assume, though, that it's a saint's name), but I would probably like it if I knew it. :P

It does look ugly - but the sound is very pretty! Not sure it would ever be usable, but it's a great sounding name!

It looks like a charm from Harry Potter.

Whew, this one does not shed its Catholic connotations easily! I have some great aunts with Auxiliadora among their 14-odd middle names. I don't really like the look of it or...the sound, sorry. But it's fun to see it in use (at least in someone's imagination!).

It does look ugly. The other thing is I keep having to stop after pronouncing each syllable, it doesn't flow when I say it out loud. Just looking at the pron, it doesn't look appealing to me either (maybe it might change later). I like complicated names, but this one is the odd exception!

Auxiliadora... never heard of it. Where did you find it?

It is a common Spanish name. Has to do with the verb "to help" or "one who helps"..I was told it comes from Maria Auxiliadora or the virgin Mary that helps you. I know an older lady whose name is Ruth Auxiliadora and she explained it to me.
