Crown Prince: Darius Theodore Amadeus William (24)
Princess: Eirian Matilda Adela Seren (24)
DD: Arianna Laura Magdalena Jacqueline (5)
DS: Nicodemus Daniel Joseph Henry (4)
DD: Rosalyn Eliana Cecilia Camille (2)
DS/DS: Gabriel Thomas Xavier Victor / Jeremy Benjamin Timothy Lyle (nb)The mystery has fianlly been solved! Within weeks after Rosalyn's birth, Eirian recieved a final note. It was in the same hand as the others, but it was more direct. "If you want to know who they were, go to the rocks at midnight on the night of the full moon." Eirian, resolved to end it once and for all, decided to do it. She didn't want to worry her family or her friends, so she showed the note to no one, except for Darius, from whom she kept no secrets. He was worried and frightened, but he didn't try to talk her out of it. He knew that she could take care of herself, and that she would never forgive herself for not taking this opportunity. So on the night of the full moon, armed with two hidden knives and a dagger, she kissed her children and her husband and set off. It wasn't hard to know where to go; there were several rock outcroppings along the beach and in the water, but there was only one big enough to hide anyone. It was a few feet into the water, and when she waded out to it she found a boat with another note in it that said, "You are brave. Take this boat east along the shore. You will know where to stop." Eirian did as the note said, rowing east. The shore grew rougher in that direction and there were only a few scattered cottages. Eirian rowed until she saw one with a light still burning and a person standing at the edge of the water. Eirian knew this was where she was meant to go.The person turned out to be a woman, who nodded at her and then went into the cottage without saying a word. Eirian followed; the woman was sitting at the only table in the one room, her hands folded neatly and her face composed. "Your Highness," she said without bowing. "You want to know the truth, then?""I do," Eirian answered, unafraid though her heart was racing. The woman told her that her parents had been part of an ancient secret society, The Flock, whose purpose was to discover and root out corruption and misdeeds at every level of government and to expose them. Basically they were spies, not under the employ of anyone, not even the ruling monarch, who only knew about them if he or she had been invited to join in youth. The woman, Gwenllian, had been a member as well, and had known her parents. She told Eirian that her parents had not been killed for reasons of simple jealousy as everyone thought, and it wasn't the poor madman who had confessed who did it. Laura and Daniel had been killed because they had discovered that an advisor of the king's, one of his own relatives, had been formulating a plan to kill the toddler Prince Darius and put himself next in the line of succession. Darius had no siblings, and King William's only other living relative at the time was his younger sister Tania, who was too young to rule. This relative was a cousin of the king's, named Roger, and when he found out that he had been discovered, he killed Daniel and then sent hired killers to pursue Laura and the tollder Eirian, pushing Laura until she died of exhaustion. Roger, to keep an investigation away from him, used several potent herbal concoctions--drugs, basically--to convince drive one of his hired men mad and convince him that he had killed the lord. The Flock, who had been told of the plan but did not have proof, was able at least to force Roger to leave the kingdom. It wasn't until the first arrow had been fired at Eirian that they found out he had returned. The Flock had been behind the notes, delivered only as they thought they were needed. They had foiled countless other attempts at violence, sometimes calling out to Eirian to make her turn to face a potential assassin, sometimes disrupting silently. Days before they had finally found where Roger had been hiding out, and when he had attacked them he was killed in the ensuring struggle. "The reason I called you here is to let you know it's over, Highness," Gwenllian said. "You don't have to worry any more."Eirian's head was in a whirl when Gwenllian finished, but she did understand that these people had protected her and her husband and her children, and that they were all now safe. "Thank you," she said. Gwenllian invited her to join The Flock, but Eirian declined. She thought it was a useful and noble life, but it was not the life for her. She had her children and her kingdom to think of, and her other duties as healer and diplomat. So she left the cottage, relieved and confused and still in a whirl. She told the whole story to Darius, who like her only grasped the final fact, that it was over and they were safe. They returned to the royal city a few months later, at the end of the summer. Both were glad to be back in the palace they loved, and they were even gladder sometime later when Eirian discovered she was pregnant again! This time she delivered not one son, but two! Though twins, Gabriel and Jeremy couldn't look more different. Gabriel looks more like Eirian, though his golden-brown hair comes from Eirian's father. Jeremy looks more like Darius, though he has Eirian's red hair. They both further surprised a few months later when Gabriel's eyes began to turn amber like King William's and Jeremy's began to turn green like Darius's. Though different in looks, both have teh same sweet tempers and are cooed over by their parents, siblings, grandparents, and aunts. Though Rebecca, Justin, and Elizabeth all returned to their farm, a week-long journey to the north, Tessa stayed in the city, attending the Royal University to complete her education, paid for by Eirian and Darius at their insistance.
