I would pronounce it the same as you. It is soooo much better than Lolita. Amazing how one letter can change a name.
It has a flirty, feminine, Hispanic feel.

I picture an Indian/ Hindu girl when I hear Lalita, but like someone else said, Chandra is a Hindu name and I also know two white Chandras. It might be confused, but little kids wouldn't know about Nabakov's novel.

I was very surprised to see that this name is Indian in origin. I just finished the book "Cane River," by Lalita Tademy. It is the story of her African-American and Creole ancestors. Hmmm. Maybe her parents just liked the sound of Lalita.

Oh, I do think Lalita is very sweet! Yay, I've been looking for things that Lally could be a nn for besides Lalage, which I'm not entirely content with. Hmm.

I do think Lalita would be confused for Lolita a lot. I don't think it would be all that weird if you weren't Indian or Hindi because the look and sound can fit in English just fine. Plus the only Chandras I've ever known were caucasian, and it worked okay. I was surprised when I learned it was an Indian name!

I think it's too similar to Lolita, sorry. Maybe Lola? Or Charlotta, which has a similar ending to it.

I think it's still too close. Possibly usable as a mn.
